Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo Hernandez will attend the inauguration of Jamaican Prime Minister-elect Simpson Miller scheduled for Thursday, the official daily Granma reported. Miller, president of the National Party of Jamaica who won the Dec. 29 general elections, will take office as prime minister in Kingston on Thursday. Miller, who served as Jamaican prime minister between March 2006 and September 2007, is the first woman in Jamaican history to take that position twice. Cuba and Jamaica, which established diplomatic ties in 1972, have maintained friendly cooperation in such fields as health, education, telecommunications and energy.
