
Praising the depth of the Egyptian-Cypriot ties that have gained momentum recently, the visiting Cypriot parliament speaker underscored his country's keenness on offering support for Egypt in its anti-terrorism and extremism efforts.
Yiannakis Omirou made the remarks during his meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail here on Tuesday, in the presence of Legal Affairs Minister Magdi el Agati.
Expressing appreciation for Cyprus cooperation in various domains through European Union institutions following June 30 revolution, the Egyptian premier thanked the European country's fruitful cooperation during the crisis of the hijacked Egyptian plane.
Meanwhile, Ismail reaffirmed Egypt's support for reunifying Cyprus in accordance with the international legitimacy, Egypt's Cabinet Spokesman Hossam El-Qaweesh said.
The prime minister also expressed interest in continuing Egyptian-Cypriot coordination with a view to fighting terrorism and extremism.
He further hailed cooperation in petroleum and gas production as well as demarcation of maritime borders with Mediterranean countries, calling for boosting trilateral cooperation between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece to activate tourism.
