Czech government survives confidence vote, eyes austerity

The Czech Republic\'s centre-right government survived a vote of confidence on Friday, nixing snap polls and allowing it to pursue an austerity and reform drive aimed at healing the EU member\'s public finances. The governing coalition, including the right-wing Civic Democrats and TOP 09 parties and a faction of the centrist Public Affairs party, was backed by a majority of 105 lawmakers in the 200-seat parliament.
