Czech PM expresses condolences to Palestinian ambassador\'s family

Outgoing Czech PM Jiri Rusnok and his government on Thursday expressed their condolences to Palestinian ambassador Jamal Al Jamal's family and to the Palestinian Authority. The ambassador was killed on Wednesday by an explosion caused by inexpert manipulation of a safe in his sitting room. Rusnok said at a press conference after the cabinet's regular meeting that there was nothing indicated the explosion was connected with an intentional terrorist act. "We have received information confirming that there is no circumstantial evidence indicating any connection with an intentional terrorist act," he said, "It is primarily an unfortunate, tragic event". "A regular investigation by the authorized Czech bodies is underway along with cooperation with the Palestinian Authority that has already sent its people in charge to Prague," said Rusnok. He said that the investigators will release details about the investigation and the government will not issue any stance on the investigation. Czech doctors will carry out an autopsy on his body on Thursday. Detectives continue questioning witnesses and examining the safe and the substance in the blast. A representative of the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs arrived in Prague over the accident and other Palestinian representatives will arrive in the following days. The Palestinian ambassador officially assumed the post on Oct. 11, 2013. He moved to the residence where is to be a new seat of the Palestinian embassy a few days ago.
