Defence Minister: Army is the nation\'s party

Defense Minister on Wednesday said that the Yemeni army is the nation\'s party. \"We are the nation\'s party and our mission is to protect the country\'s sovereignty and achieve security and stability,\" Mohammed Nasser Ahmed said in a speech he delivered during his visit to the 7th Military Command in Dammar governorate. The armed forces have no relationship with any political parties, the Defense Minister said, urging all army\'s soldiers and officers to work as a team. The Minister talked about the situation Yemen has experienced in 2011, saying that the division in the armed forces has been ended. \"The army has been reunified and become one establishment under one leadership.\" He said that Yemen is about to begin a new stage of a new Yemen, stressing the importance to intensify our efforts to ensure a better future of armed forces.
