Delhi rape prompts US, UK advisories

Have the Delhi gang-rape protests set off a travel scare among foreign tourists? The advisories were revised on December 29 following the death of the rape victim in Singapore. While the travel industry has not reported any cancellations, the spontaneous protests and clamping down of movement in central Delhi has set off several anxious calls from tourists to the India tourism offices across the globe. Sources said that there had been several queries, from UK, US and Australia, regarding travel to India. In its advisory US state department has said, \"Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn violent. Please avoid the areas where demonstrations are occurring and exercise caution if within the vicinity of any large gatherings.
