
Dr. Simonetta Di Pippo, Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs ,UNOOSA, has praised the progress made by the United Arab Emirates Space Agency since its inception.
Dr. Di Pippo congratulated the UAE Space Agency on its affiliation to the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, referring to the prominent role to be played by the agency through its membership.
This came when Dr. Khalifa Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Chairman of the UAE Space Agency Board, met with Dr. Di Pippo at the agency headquarters.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the prospects of joint cooperation, in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency and a number of officials.
Dr. Di Pippo was briefed by Dr. Al Rumaithi on the work of the agency and its objectives, initiatives, programmes and the strategy of the space sector in the country.
The meeting comes within the framework of Dr. Di Pippo's participation in a seminar of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO, and UNOOSA, hosted by the General Authority of Civil Aviation and UAE Space Agency for the first time outside the International Civil Aviation Organisation's headquarters.
Dr. Al Rumaithi said that the visit of Dr. Di Pippo comes within the framework of the agency's keenness to build international cooperation relations with various international authorities, saying that cooperation is one of the pillars of the Strategic Plan of the Agency for the development and upgrading of the space sector in the country.
