kinshasa - Xinhua

The incumbent president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), Joseph Kabila, is optimistic about his victory in the elections scheduled for Nov. 28. Kabila voiced optimism on Sunday in the town of Kalemie in Katanga province, asking the residents to massively go to the polling stations to choose their favorite, reports monitored here said.\"You need to massively go and vote in favor of the candidate No. 3 who is Joseph Kabila, you need to vote for Kabila in whom you have placed your confidence to complete the country\'s reconstruction plan,\" he said, when he addressed a crowd of about 3,000 people turning out to listen to his speech. \"On Nov. 28, we are going to win the presidential elections. The elections are in our favor. We are confident,\" Kabila declared. He also asked the Congolese not to react to acts of provocation and violence which could derail the good conduct of the electoral process. Kabila arrived in Kalemie on Sunday evening in the company of his wife Olive Lembe Kabila and his children. He was forced by the crowd to walk on foot for a distance of about 5 km, local sources disclosed.
