
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a schedule on Friday for by-elections on National and Provincial assembly seats in Pakistan. The total number of seats, where by-elections are taking place, is 42 including 16 National seats and 26 seats of provincial assemblies. ECP has to commence by-elections in the constituencies that were left by the member assemblies that won seats from more than one constituency. The general elections in Pakistan were held on May 11, which were won by Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N). According to the schedule issued by ECP, the by-elections will be held on 22nd of August and candidates can submit their nomination papers from 3rd to 9th July. The scrutiny of the papers will be held from 11 to 17 July. Candidates can file appeals till July 22. The decision on the appeals would be made on July 29 and the final list of the candidates would be issued on July 31.
