Egypt interior ministry ready to secure streets following end of curfew

The Interior Ministry stands fully ready to secure the streets following the end of the curfew on November 14, affirmed Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim. In exclusive statements to MENA Monday, Ibrahim said that police officers will be deployed on all streets and main squares, after the end of the curfew to assure citizens that the security situation is under control. Asked about preparations to secure protests, called for by the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group, on November 19, Ibrahim said that security bodies have taken all preparations to deal with the protests. He further said that he gave directives to all security departments to deal strictly with any attempt to create chaos on November 19, which will mark the third anniversary of Mohamed Mahmoud and the second-leg of the Africa playoffs to the 2014 World Cup. The minister also warned of attacking any public facilities or police station during the protests. Asked about reports of returning about 500 police officers to work in the national security service, the minister said that after the June 30 revolution, he started to reconstruct the national security service. He also said that the ousted president Mohamed Morsi cancelled important departments in the national security service. The minister, meanwhile, said that Morsi, who is in Borg al-Arab prison, is treated like any other prisoner.
