
Prosecutor General Nabil Sadeq has assured his Italian counterpart Giuseppe Pignatone that the investigations into the murder of Italian student Giulio Regeni were being conducted with great efforts and under his direct supervision.
Sadeq made the comments during his meeting Monday with Pignatone and his deputy Sergio Colaiocco who were now visiting Cairo at an invitation of Egypt's top prosecutor.
The two sides agreed to continue and develop cooperation to stand on the real facts of the case, a statement issued by the prosecutor general's office said.
The Italian side offered to provide the Egyptian side with available information, a matter that was appreciated by Egypt.
They also agreed to hold a meeting between the Egyptian police and the Italian investigators in Rome soon.
