
Egypt's Foreign Ministry summoned Turkish Ambassador in Egypt Hüseyin Avni to protest his country's intervention in Egypt's domestic affairs, MENA has learned. The ministry deplored Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's remarks, considering such statements as a "flagrant interference" in the Egyptian internal affairs and ran counter to the choices of the Egyptian people. On August 15, Turkey's ambassador to Egypt was recalled to Ankara for consultation following the bloody crackdown on supporters of toppled President Mohamed Morsi. But, he returned at the beginning of September. Egypt also recalled its ambassador for consultation in August, but he has not returned to Ankara.
