The foreign ministry on Friday said that it has not been formally informed of recalling the Italian ambassador to Egypt for consultations over the death of student Giulio Regeni in Cairo.
In statements, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid stressed that no statements on the results of the meetings between Egyptian and Italian investigators were announced so far.
Egypt is still waiting until the Egyptian investigators back home to assess the outcomes of the meetings, Abu Zeid said.
Regeni, 28, disappeared on his way to meet a friend on 25 January. His body was found in a ditch on 3 February.
