Egyptian border guards foiled Thursday an attempt to smuggle weapons from Libya into Egypt through borders between the two countries, a security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. The border guards spotted three Egyptians holding smuggled weapons and ammunition and infiltrating from Libya to Egypt through the south of Saloum desert. The guards seized 15 sniper rifles and around 200 bullets. The three people fled away when the guards chased them. Egyptian border guards are exerting efforts to foil smuggling of weapons to Egypt from war-torn Libya. They have so far succeeded in foiling around 18 smuggling attempts, the source added.
