Egyptian Copt found decapitated in Sinai

An Egyptian Copt was found Thursday decapitated in Egypt\'s North Sinai, a security official told Xinhua. The man\'s corpse was found with bound hands and feet, five days after he was kidnapped by gunmen, said the official. \"The man was kidnapped on Saturday by some Jihadist groups who want to take revenge against the Christians, the army, and the police after the ouster of Islamist-oriented President Mohamed Morsi,\" the official said, noting that those groups killed a priest in the city of Arish on the same day. On Friday, at least five soldiers were killed in North Sinai in armed attacks by extremist Islamist groups on Arish Airport, a security camp in Rafah, a police station, and two security checkpoints in Sheikh Zuwaid. The attacks came after the Egyptian army ousted Morsi last week in response to millions of protesters who demanded his removal due to his \"maladministration\" since he came to power a year ago. However, supporters of Morsi condemned the move as \"a military coup\" and vowed to sacrifice for Morsi\'s legitimacy. The security situation in Sinai Peninsula has been worsening since the upheaval in 2011 which toppled former President Hosni Mubarak. Analysts believe that the situation could be more critical after Morsi\'s ouster.
