Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr on Tuesday met with Syrian opposition figures, who are taking part in the Syrian opposition conference, currently underway in Cairo. Amr met with leaders of the Syrian National Council, the National Coordination Body for Democratic Change, the Syrian Democratic Forum, and the Syrian Tribal Council, Egypt's foreign ministry spokesman Amr Roshdy said. Roshdy said that Egypt hopes the conference will succeed in reaching a united vision regarding the democratic foundations the new Syria will be based upon, a roadmap for the transition, and a mechanism for following up on the implementation of the conference's outcome. Around 100 countries are set to convene in Paris on Friday for the Friends of Syria meeting.
