Egyptian FM underlines Iran\'s role in resolving Syrian crisis

Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr praised Iran for its efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian Crisis, and underlined the need for cooperation with Tehran to help bring back peace to the Muslim country.The Egyptian foreign minister made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Cairo.\"It is necessary to cooperate with Iran to achieve a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Syria and put an end to bloodshed in the country …,\" Amr said.Meantime, the Egyptian foreign minister noted that the ongoing conflict in Syria \"will deteriorate\" the situation in the region.Amir Abdollahian in a press conference in Cairo on Monday called for exerting pressure on the regional and international parties to make them stop funding and arming terrorist groups in Syria and prevent terrorists\' move across the borders.\"Arms are being sent to Syria through many borders around the country and many unknown armed groups have also entered the country from different borders and weapons are being handed over to these terrorists,\" he said.Amir Abdollahian noted that foreign powers are seeking to disintegrate Syria by fomenting crisis in the Muslim country.Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
