Egyptian foreign minister: Action against Morsi not military coup

Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammad Kamel Amr said he had told US Secretary of State John Kerry that LATEST events in Egypt could not be called \"a military coup.\" The road map, declared by the Egyptian Army, did not indicate \"any role for it in politics,\" Amr said, citing some of the arguments he had presented to Kerry in a contact, according to the official Middle East News Agency. \"Role of the army is currently restricted to maintaining livelihood and security of the Egyptians in addition to securing vital installations in anticipation of possible attacks, thus we cannot say that what has happened is a military coup,\" the minister said. Washington has declared that aides to President Barack Obama are holding contacts with Egyptian officials to ensure \"establishment OF a democratically elected government.\" Egypt\'s military command, two days ago, ousted President Mohamed Morsi, and assigned the head of the Constitutional Court as the interim president.
