Scores of Egyptian nationals flocked to Al-Tahreer Square in the center of the Egyptian capital on Friday holding a large demonstration and urging the ruling military council to clamp down on members and followers of the ousted National Democratic Party (NDP).The demonstrators brandished billboards and placards calling for \"political isolation of remnants of the defunct\" party and purging state institutions and departments of loyalists of the toppled party. They are chanting for speedy handover of power to an elected president, government and legislators, according to witnesses. The protestors have also expressed discontent at a declaration by the transitional ruling military council to extend imposition of the emergency law, although it expired last March. Two stands have been erected at the center of the square; one for the president hopeful, Hazem Abu Ismail. Campaigners using loudspeakers are condemning the ruling council accusing it of being slack of handing over powers to a civilian authority.Abu Ismail has declared participation of 18 political coalitions and political parties in today\'s protests. The protest is the latest of a chain of demonstrations that have been held since ouster of the regime of Hosni Mubarak last winter. Mubarak, members of his family and formers aides are being tried on charges of corruption and responsibility for death of protestors. The Arab world, since the middle of the winter, has witnessed the so-called \"Arab spring events,\" with many young activists, campaigning through electronic means of communications, calling for political and administrative reforms.
