Egypt\'s Muslim Brotherhood chief, Hamas leader discuss security issues

Egypt\'s Muslim Brotherhood (MB) chief Mohamed Badei and Hamas politburo chief Khaled Meshaal met Saturday in Cairo on security issues as well as the latest developments of the Palestinian issue, the official website of MB\' s Freedom and Justice Party said.During the meeting Meshaal reaffirmed the Palestinians\' respect for the security of Egypt and their noninterference in Egypt\'s domestic affairs.\"Besides its position and leadership in the Arab and Muslim worlds, Egypt represents a strong supporter for the Palestinian cause in the past, at present and in the future,\" the website quoted Meshaal as saying.The website said Meshaal stressed the Palestinians\' appreciation for \"the sacrifices of Egypt and the Egyptian army.\" The Hamas chief also said he was in constant contact with the Egyptian presidency and intelligence for coordination \"in a way that serves the Egyptian national security.\"The meeting came after Egyptian state-owned Al-Ahram Al-Arabi Magazine published in its latest version a report on the involvement of Hamas members in the deadly attack that killed 16 Egyptian army soldiers at the border city of Rafah in August 2012.A lot of Egyptians, mostly liberals, secularists, leftists and Copts, accuse the current Islamist-oriented regime of President Mohamed Morsi and his MB group of affiliating with the Palestinian Islamist movement at the expense of Egyptian interests and national security.
