Election headquarters of a candidate for Moscow mayor prepares protest actions

Moscow law enforcers have urged Muscovites to stay away from any unsanctioned rallies or actions that might follow the mayoral elections in Moscow in September. Police warn that all violators of public order and rules of holding mass actions will be dealt with in accordance with Russian laws. The warning came after the Moscow police had learnt that the election headquarters of a candidate for the Moscow mayor were planning to stage protest actions shortly after the elections even before all the votes were counted, a source at the Moscow interior department told Itar-Tass on Friday. “It has become known to police that representatives of the headquarters of one of the candidates for the Moscow mayor are planning to protest against the election results. They are organizing the arrival of people from other regions to Moscow, for whom they are renting apartments and who are supposed to participate in protest actions on September 8-9 after the elections of the Moscow mayor, to show their disagreement with the vote count,” the interior department went on to say.
