Emir of Kuwait meets EU\'s high representative Catherine Ashton

Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah met here on Tuesday with Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy for the European Union , who is currently visiting the country as part of a tour of the gulg region which also included the UAE. They discussed issues of joint interest as well as the issues on schedule of the second humanitarian donor conference on Syria, which will take place tomorrow Wednesday in Kuwait. Earlier Monday, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces met Ashton for talks that focussed on bilateral relations and regional developments including preparations for the upcoming Geneva II conference on Syria. UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan also conferred with Catherine Ashton who is also the vice president of the European Commission, and discussed a number of regional and international political issues of mutual interest, the latest developments on the Palestinian issue and the peace process in the Middle East as well as the situation in Syria, Egypt and the Iranian nuclear program.
