Erdogan: Any military action must aim at removing Assad\'s regime

Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday the military operation against Syria should aim at removing the ruling regime in Damascus. Erdogan, in a statement to reporters refused a limted military strike against the Syrian regime and said the objective of any intervention should be the removal of Bashar Al-Assad\'s regime. US President Barack Obama said earlier today he was considering a \"limited, narrow act\" militarily against the Syrian regime. \"We\'re not considering any open ended commitment,\" said Obama, adding that combat inside Syria is off the table. \"We\'re not considering any boots on the ground approach.\" But Erdogan emphasized that \"rhere should be an intervention like the one happened in Kosovo. An intervention for a day or two will not be enough.\" Earlier today, Turkish foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu said there was no doubt that the Syria regime used chemical weapons against innocent civilians last week. Meanwhile, NTV channel said the Turkish government heightened military preparations to \"code orange\" in the the southeast Diyarbakr airbase, which means fighter jets would be ready for any operation against military targets inside the Syrian territories.
