Geneva - Arabstoday

The European Union today called on the Syrian government to abide by the decisions of the Human Rights Council, to stop all forms of violence and killings, protect civilians, allow aid to enter and hold accountable those responsible for violations and killings. This came to in a statement by Denmark read out by the spokeswoman for the European Union before the opening session of the Human Rights Council\'s extraordinary session, held today to discuss the deteriorating human rights situation in Syria and the acts of killing that have occurred recently in the city of Hula. Denmark said the EU states supports the convening of this meeting, especially after the acts of killing that occurred in the city of Hula which amount to crimes against humanity that should necessary be referred to the International Criminal Court, pointing to the continued violation of human rights by the Syrian authorities. Denmark also referred to the European Union\'s belief in the need to achieve a peaceful political solution to Syrian crisis, and called for the full and serious implementation of the Joint United Nations-Arab League Envoy Kofi Annan\'s six-point plan. The Human Rights Council has decided last Wednesday to hold the abovementioned special meeting to discuss what it described as the deteriorating human rights situation in Syria and the killings that have occurred recently in the town of Hula.(QNA)  the
