EU concerned by developments in Sudan

The European Union (EU) expressed Friday its deep concern at the latest developments in Sudan, after the government decided to increase the prices of fuel. Maya Kocijancic , the Spokesperson of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy for the European Union, called on parts involved in the conflict today to avoid escalating the crisis. She added that European institutions were closely following developments in Sudan. Mass demonstrations broke out in capital Khartoum and other Sudanese cities after the government decided to increase the price of petrol. Sudan has lost about 75% its oil revenue after the separation of the South of Sudan, which led to adverse effects on the Sudanese economy.
