The European Union embassy in Cairo said Tuesday that a translated interview with its envoy here included misinterpretations, the most striking of which was the wrongly stated "June 30 Revolution". Egypt Independent wrongly translated statements by James Moran to Al-Masry Al-Yom newspaper yesterday in which he described what happened on June 30 as "a popular uprising" and not a "revolution", a statement by the EU embassy said Tuesday. The statement pointed to the Arabic version of the interview which quotes Moran as saying that the EU has no comments on who will be the next president of Egypt. Egypt Independent, which translated the interview, again wrongly stated that Moran said it is up to Egyptians if they want to return to the military rule. This has never been mentioned by the EU envoy, the statement stressed. The EU embassy said it appreciates the professionalism of the Al-Masry Al-Yom newspaper but had to make clear certain sensitive points.
