
A visiting European parliamentary delegation has started talks with Iranian officials with a meeting with Head of Iranian Parliament's Group for Relations with the European Parliament Kazem Jalali on Saturday. During the meeting, Jalali welcomed the European delegation and underlined the importance of such a visit to exchange points of view and reach an understanding of the stances of each side. Jalali, also a member of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, called for continued relations between the Iranian and the European parliaments. He stated that the West has made a mistake in decision making about Iran as it lacks a true analysis of the realities of Iranian society. For her part, Head of the European delegation Tarja Cronberg said the European Parliament backs the recent nuclear agreement between Iran and Group 5+1 in Geneva and hopes the two sides would take confidence-building measures to go ahead with the talks. Cronberg said the media introduces inaccurate image of the Iranian society to the world. She added that reciprocal visits help to both sides better know each other. The European Parliament delegation arrived in Tehran Friday morning to hold talks with the Iranian officials. The eight-member delegation is making the visit to Iran upon the invitation of the head of parliament's Research Center Kazem Jalali. During its six-day stay in Tehran, the delegation is to meet and hold talks with the Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Head of parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Ala'din Boroujerdi and a number of other officials. The European delegation is also to visit the historical city of Isfahan in central country.
