EU welcomes Matrix agreement between Sudan and south Sudan

The European Union has welcomed the matrix agreement signed by Sudan and South Sudan, which set a detailed timetable and methods of implementation of the nine agreements signed in Addis Ababa on 27 September 2012. The High Representative of the Union for Foreign and Political Affairs and Security and Vice-President of the European Commission, Catherine Ashton said in a statement released Wednesday, that the two governments should implement all the nine agreements, which will lead to the rapid establishmentof buffer zone between the two countries ;inclusion of the joint border monitoring mechanism and monitoring mechanism, the resumption of oil exports from southern Sudan, the reopening of the border trade and to stream line the situation of nationals of the two countries in the other country. The EU official the EU wants to see Sudan and South Sudan living together in peace and if fully implemented the matrix, these agreements will provide significant benefits in both countries. She lauded the tireless efforts of the African Union through the High level Committee, led by former President Mbeki, and urged all parties to continue to participate actively to resolve all outstanding issues. The statement that the EU is ready to support the implementation process.
