China has urged the European Union to obey the ruling after the European Court ruled in favor of a Chinese steel manufacturer embroiled in an anti-dumping investigation.
A Monday statement from the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said the European Commission (EC) "had abused its discretionary power and wrongly applied the law during its investigations, seriously damaging the interests of Chinese firms."
In its ruling on April 7, the European Court held that the EC's anti-dumping investigations into Hubei Xinyegang Steel Co. were insufficient and thus its ensuing trade remedy measures are illegal.
The EU should follow World Trade Organization rules and avoid such violations in the future, the MOC said.
