European Council President arrives in Beijing

President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy arrived in Beijing Sunday on a five-day official visit to China, during which he will hold talks with China\'s President Hu Jintao, Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and Vice President Xi Jinping. On his first official visit to China since he took office, Rompuy is also scheduled to visit Shanghai and Chengdu, capital city of southwest China\'s Sichuan Province. \"China hopes the visit would enhance bilateral cooperation with the European Union\", Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said .
