A majority of European Jews believe anti-Semitism remains a problem in their country and has become worse in recent years, a survey indicates. The European Union's Fundamental Rights Agency completed the survey after consulting with 5,847 Jewish people in the member countries. Sixty-six percent of the respondents said anti-Semitism is a major problem in their country and 76 percent said it has become worse. About three-quarters of the respondents pointed to the Internet as a source for growing anti-Semitism, the BBC reported. Twenty-one percent said they been the victim of an anti-Semitic incident in the year preceding the survey, the FRA said in a statement. The FRA is recommending that member states record Jews' human rights violations. The EU should establish a police unit that investigates hate crimes on the Internet and public figures should condemn anti-Semitism, the FRA said.
