Fatah al-Islam inmates in Roumieh prison have gone on a hunger strike on Thursday to protest an assault against a fellow prisoner, reported the National News Agency on Friday. It explained that the prisoner was assaulted when he was standing trial at the Military Tribunal. No further details were given on the incident. The Fatah al-Islam inmates demanded that the prison administration hold the assailants accountable for their actions in order for them to end their strike. The prison administration has since tightened security in the bloc B of the jail, where the Fatah al-Islam prisoners are detained, as a precaution should the strike turn into a riot. Roumieh inmates frequently stage hunger strikes in protest against the conditions in the jail.
