Prime Minister Salam Fayyad met Sunday with British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg in London. Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Fayyad and Clegg discussed the latest developments in Palestine, particularly the occupied Palestinian territory. Clegg insisted that there was an “urgent need for progress in the Middle East Peace Process.” He said that peace would be for the best interests of the two parts of the conflict, insisting that both Palestinians and Israelis must restart peace talks. Clegg criticized some of the Israeli actions recently, he said that the “demolition of entire villages in the southern Hebron hills, by Israel, is utterly unacceptable.” The Palestinian Prime Minister also met with the Secretary of State for International Development, Andrew Mitchell, and FCO Minister for the Middle East, Alistair Burt, according to WAFA.
