FBI denies eBay merchandise used to wiretap mobster \'Whitey\' Bulger

The FBI has denied claims that devices listed on eBay were used to tap the phones of Boston mobster James \"Whitey\" Bulger during the years he was in hiding. John Reznikoff of Westport, Conn., is asking nearly $4,000 for circuit boards, wires and digital cards marked as \"Bulger Phone Switch,\" the Boston Herald reported Monday. FBI Special Agent Gregory J. Comcowich expressed doubt about the provenance of the equipment, saying the items were \"not authentic with respect to any allegation or inference\" they were used to wiretap Bulger. \"Any conclusion drawn from the eBay description that the FBI knew where James Bulger was located from the time he fled until his arrest is absolutely false,\" Comcowich added. Brian Camgemi, president of a Boston electronics recycling company, said he sold the devices to Reznikoff several years ago for $500. Camgemi said an unnamed person found the equipment in a pallet of \"obsolete\" surveillance equipment, telling him \"it came from a government agency in Boston.\"
