French Prime Minister François Fillon sent a message on Wednesday to congratulate Mr. Hamadi Jebali, Secretary-General of Ennahda party, on his appointment on Wednesday as head of the Tunisian government. "Your appointment is the crowning achievement of your relentless commitment to serve your country and a tribute to your political courage," said Mr. Fillon in this message published on Thursday by the French Embassy in Tunis. He also wrote that Tunisia, which "paved the way for the Arab Spring, has confirmed its pioneering role through holding the first free and transparent elections in its history but also in the region". "The democratic process is going on everyday and I am convinced that your country will keep on being a model for the transitions underway in the Arab world", Mr. Fillon added. Besides, the French PM reminded that "France, which shares age-old ties with Tunisia, will remain mobilised by the side of Tunisia's people at a decisive moment for its future." "It is as a friendly country that France will support Tunisia in European and international meetings," Mr. Fillon declared.
