Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Monday congratulated the king, government and people of Bahrain on the 42nd National Day of the kingdom. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, along with Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah, attended a celebration hosted by the Embassy of Bahrain on this occasion. Speaking to reporters, Sheikh Sabah expressed hope that the kingdom will enjoy stability, progress and prosperity under the wise leadership of King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also voiced joy for the selection of Manama as the 2014 capital of Asian tourism at the end of the Asia Co-operation Dialogue forum late last month. "The hospitable people of sisterly Bahrain are able to manage this important event and make their country one of the world's leading tourist destinations in the next year," he affirmed. Similarly, Sheikh Salman congratulated Bahrain and voiced best wishes for King Hamad and Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa as well as all Bahraini people. "All peoples of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states share the joy of the National Day with sisterly Bahrain," he said. On his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Khaled Al-Jarallah congratulated the Kingdom on the occasion and on the great achievements it made in various fields, notably human development. "These achievements materialize the determination of the wise leadership of Bahrain to prosperity and welfare for the people," he said. Al-Jarallah reaffirmed Kuwait's opposition to any foreign interference in the domestic affairs of Bahrain, noting that Bahrain is able to maintain its security and stability on its own. Al-Jarallah, in answering to questions, said Kuwait had affirmed importance of the Gulf Union but the issue needed thorough study. He also said preparations were ongoing to host the 2nd donor conference for Syria next month.
