France supports Lebanese government’s dialogue efforts

France supports national dialogue in Lebanon and the disassociation policy adopted by the incumbent government to avert Lebanon from repercussions of the regional crisis, France’s Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Tuesday as he met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Paris. Fabius also said that France will support Lebanon in assisting displaced Syrians in the country and back the UNIFIL to continue assuming its role in South Lebanon and preserve stability, Lebanon’s state news agency NNA reported. Mikati noted that France does not interfere in Lebanese affairs, adding that it “fully supports stability in Lebanon and stresses on the necessity of preventing the appearance of any local vacuum.” In his second day the official visit to France, Mikati discussed developmental issues on reforestation projects in Beirut with Jean-Paul Huchon, President of the regional council for the Island of France. Mikati also visited Louvre Museum of Art and is scheduled to meet on Wednesday French President Francois Hollande, according to NNA.
