French FM sets priorities of Paris meeting on Mosul

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault announced on Tuesday priorities of the ministerial meeting that he will chair along with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim al Jaafari on Mosul. 

Slated for Thursday in Paris, the top priority of the meeting is tackling measures aimed at protecting Iraqi civilians besieged by Daesh terrorists in Mosul and neighboring villages, Ayrault said in a statement.

The second one is offering necessary humanitarian aid to Nineveh residents amid ongoing fights.

Preparing a plan by the Iraqi authorities to stabilize Mosul and liberated areas would be the third priority of the meeting, the French foreign minister said, assuring that good governance in Mosul would help in meeting the aspirations of its residents.

Ayrault further stressed that his country shoulders responsibility of the large scale military operation to retake Daesh-held Mosul, which was waged by the Iraqi army on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Ayrault said that France and Iraq will organize an international meeting on the future of Iraq's Mosul city with 20 countries participating.
