"Future" Bloc advocated an electoral law that secures fair representation and freedom of choice, maintains National Charter and Taef Accord principles, and abides by constitutional stipulations. "Future" Bloc's fresh stance came in the wake of its weekly meeting on Tuesday afternoon at Beit al-Wasat, presided over by former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora. The Bloc dwelt on the general situation in Lebanon and the region. The Bloc considered that the adoption of proportionality in the electoral law at the current political moment does not constitute a step towards reform, but rather opens the way before increasing Hezbollah's domination and control over the Lebanese state. "The Bloc categorically rejects dwelling into any electoral draft law that contradicts with the foundations of national coexistence among the Lebanese and the principles of the civil state, and violates Constitutional preamble," the Bloc said in a statement. As such, the Bloc utterly rejected the so-called Orthodox Gathering electoral proposal, saying it contributes to transforming the Lebanese people into 'rival sectarian tribes" and deepening wedges amongst the components of the nation.
