The U.A.E. General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has initiated an investigation into the helicopter air crash that occurred yesterday at Palm Island, Jumeirah, Dubai. GCAA's preliminary report indicates that the helicopter crashed shortly after takeoff with two persons on board, one suffering from critical injuries. Both persons were transferred to Sheikh Rashid Hospital for immediate medical aid. GCAA investigators are currently looking into the reasons behind the crash. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, GCAA Director-General, said the causes of the accident are still unknown. The full report will be made public once the investigation is over. Al Suwaidi added that the GCAA has acquired a great deal of knowledge and experience in dealing with air accident investigations over the past years and it will utilise all this experience to secure the U.A.E.'s skies.
