Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States, has condemned the assassination of the lawmaker and member of the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference (NDC) Abdul Karim Jadban. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the GCC Secretary General described the assassination of Jadban as a heinous terrorist act that is inconsistent with the values of humanity and international norms. "This cowardly act aims to provoke sedition among the people of Yemen, and deter its march towards reform and change started with the implementation of the GCC initiative," Al-Zayani said. He called on the Yemeni people to reject violence, and adhere to dialogue as the only way to achieve its aspirations and hopes of safe, stable and prosperous Yemen. The GCC Secretary General voiced his confidence in the ability of Yemen's security services to catch the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and to the Yemeni government and people.
