German deputy speaker stresses to Mikati EU must do more for refugees\' plight

Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, met on Monday with the German Deputy Speaker of the House, Claudia Roth, who said following the meeting that Europe and the European Union were asked for additional efforts to solve the fiddly crisis caused by over one million refugees who fled Syria war into Lebanon."The crisis has gone far, and I, as a Deputy House Speaker of Germany, I perceived the size of the problem and I do know what it is like for a country where population has reached four million to have room for more than one million refugees," Roth told reporters following the meeting.She pledged to provide the German government with information regarding the ailing health, education, and jobs sectors, in an effort to offer Lebanon the required assistance. "Your country needs support on the levels of education, unemployment, and economy. The region also needs political support to stop Syria war and to resolve the Palestinian Cause," she said.She did not fail to hold out hope that a new government would be formed soon and that a new President would be elected. "The EU is not offering much to face this war. Germany had already received a small number of refugees which we hope to increase. Europe and the EU must do more to solve this political and humanitarian crisis," Roth, who's bound to Jordan and Iraq next after Lebanon, indicated.Separately, Mikati met with the Acting Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Ahmad Karami. The pair reportedly discussed the current situation prevailing in unrest-shaken Tripoli.
