German President Joachim Gauck arrived in Kabul at the head of a high-level delegation on Tuesday for talks with host leadership, an official was quoted by Pahjwak Afghan News (PAN) as saying. Later in the day, he is to meet President Hamid Karzai and other senior officials to discuss a variety of issues, Saftullah Safi, acting director of the Government Media and Information Centre, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Almost 4,300 German soldiers within the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) framework are currently stationed in northern Afghanistan. At least 53 have been killed so far during their mission.
