
German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel, currently here on a visit, has stressed his country's support for Egypt politically and economically.
In a press conference at Ittihadia palace Sunday following his talks with President Abdel Fattal El Sisi, Gabriel, who doubles as the minister of economy and energy, said president Sisi deserves admiration.
He said Germany can contribute to backing Egypt's economy especially in the fields of vocational training, adding that Germany seeks to benefit from economic and investment chances available in Egypt.
The German official pointed out that his talks with Sisi dealt with security issues including measures to secure the borders and prevent cross-border smuggling of arms.
The talks also dealt with the dues of the Germany companies operating in Egypt and German assistance to back Egypt's economy and promote Cairo's stance in negotiations with the Paris Club countries.
Gabriel said the German chancellor had shown readiness to help Egypt in its negotiations with international economic institutions.
