Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security detained a terrorist group, which were preparing to carry out acts of terror in the republic, the authority said on Monday. The counter-terrorist operations, organized on the eve of the Independence Day (August 31) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s summit (September 13), discovered a group belonging to the Islamic Jihad Union organization; this group was then detained. “The members of the group were relocated from the Syrian Arab Republic to prepare and commit acts of terror,” the authority said. “The group’s members were one citizen of Kazakhsatn and two Kyrgyz, who were born and lived in the Osh region, and who participated in the military actions against Syrian governmental forces on the side of terrorist units.” “We have learned that the bandits had received the task from foreign ideologists and leaders of international terrorism and were sent from Syrian to Kyrgyzstan to organize and commit major acts of terror in the cities of Bishkek and Osh,” the source said. A criminal investigation is underway.
