Hagel: See no proof of chemical weapons use in Syria

U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said on Wednesday that he has not seen the evidence of chemical weapons use in Syria, which is claimed by the French government. At the news conference after the two-day meeting of NATO defense ministers, Hagel said he met with his French counterpart, but the French did not request any specific actions by the U.S. in regard to Syria. French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius announced Tuesday that France has \"no doubt\" that the Syrian regime had used the deadly nerve agent sarin in conflicts with rebels and \"all options are on the table\" to end the conflicts. However, the Pentagon chief said that he has not seen the evidence that chemical weapons have been used in Syria. As for NATO\'s role in the Syria crisis, Hagel said the alliance should continue to help protect its member country Turkey, \"but beyond that we didn\'t get into any additional war plans regarding Syria.\"
