Palestinian movement Hamas on Tuesday expressed hope that the new Qatari emir would follow suit the steps of his father in supporting the Palestinian issue. A press release issued by the movement voiced hope that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamas al-Than would follow the same policy adopted by his father in backing the Palestinian steadfastness and struggle. Former Qatari emir Sheikh Hamad had extended in last October 407 million dollars for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, according to the statement. Also, Qatar had received Hamas leaders in 1999 when they were expelled from Jordan, added the statement. It also received them in 2012 when they left Syria, added the press release.
