
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, has stressed the keenness of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on the development of the Western Region and welfare of citizens.
He referred to the importance of redoubling efforts in the next phase to complete various projects, especially in the areas of adequate housing, health and education services, as well as infrastructure projects, and implementation of the ambitious plans that meet present and future aspirations to keep pace with the country's development.
Sheikh Hamdan made the remarks while meeting at Nakheel Palace in Abu Dhabi with Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company "ADNOC" and its group of companies to assess the latest developments in some of the projects and services provided to the citizens and expatriate residents of the Western Region.
The meeting was also attended by Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee, Saeed Eid Al Ghafli, Chairman of the Executive Office, and Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman of Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport.
Among others present were Mohamed Hamad bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Ruler's Representative Court in the Western Region, Sultan bin Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Director of the Office of H.H. the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Mohammed Thani Murshid Al Rumaithi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Juma Al Shamsi, the CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), Ateeq Khamis Hamad Al Mazrouei, Acting Director-General of the Western Region Municipality, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, Abdul Munim Al Kindy, Adnoc’s director of exploration and production, and other senior officials.
Dr. Al Jaber briefed Sheikh Hamdan about conspicuous contributions and projects being implemented by ADNOC and its group of companies in the Western Region, especially in the areas of education, health, sports, culture and heritage. He also had the briefing from Al Marar on the projects of the civic body and services provided to the citizens and expatriate residents alike in the Western Region.
The Masdar CEO also briefed Sheikh Hamdan about Shams 1 concentrated solar power (CSP) plan, one of the world's major solar projects, in the Western Region. It generates clean energy to power 20,000 homes.
Al Ramahi presented an overview of Abu Dhabi Carbon Capture Company, which is the fruit of years of cooperation between Masdar and ADNOC in the area of capture, transfer and use of carbon dioxide.
Sheikh Hamdan also had a briefing from the CEO of ADPC on the development of Delma Port which will be completed in the last quarter of this year.
