Head of the sacked Palestinian government in Gaza, Ismail Haniya, spoke over the phone saturday with the Secretary General of the Arab League, Nabil Al-Arabi, about the difficult humanitarian conditions suffered by the residents of the Gaza Strip. According to a brief statement issued by Haniyeh's Office that the latter asked Al-Arabi that the Arab League works to lift the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip for so many years, calling for the application of the decisions of the Arab League in order to bring in humanitarian needs to the Gaza Strip via the Rafah crossing. For his part, Al-Arabi said he was following the developments in the Gaza Strip and was in contact with the Arab countries for dispatching immediate relief aid to the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Strip has been witnessing for the past four days heavy rains and strong winds that led to the injury of dozens of people, some seriously, as well as the displacement of hundreds of residents whose homes have sunk by floodwaters.
