MP Boutros Harb said Sunday to Voice of Lebanon -Dignity and Freedom radio that the proposed Orthodox election law divides Christians into communities and alienates them from Muslims in Lebanon. "I do not believe that the Maronites are in a good condition, if they continue to place themselves in perpetual conflict," he said. According to the MP, 14 March components agree on national constants, but with differing views on the electoral law. Regarding the visit of Maronite Patriarch to Syria, Harb described the visit as pastoral in nature aimed at consolidating cooperation with the Greek Orthodox Church. "But I fear that this visit may be exploited politically by the Syrian regime, saying that the Maronite church supports one side at the expense of another, in Syria." When asked about lifting off his parliamentary immunity, Harb said that the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation must act, but not in a capricious manner. Harb welcomed the impending expiry of the term of Judge Hatem Madi, urging him to resign to be replaced by a judge who respects the rules of court.
